Welcome to my virtual home!
As you read through the website you will probably get a good sense of who I am, how I work, and my philosophy on life, love and relationships.
I see life as a journey that offers many teachings and opportunities for growth, and I believe this is particularly true in the darker moments. I also know that while pain and suffering are normal parts of being human, we are not wired to heal alone.
Most human suffering can be alleviated by healing past and present relational trauma, and that a healthy, adaptive ability to relate is the cornerstone of long-term fulfillment and wellbeing.
My work is strongly rooted in spiritually based philosophies like Buddhism and Taoism because of how powerfully they can shift the human perspective, but I’m also aware that we all need to function in modern day life.
This is why my work blends Eastern philosophy with Western models of healing for a holistic approach to the human condition.

My journey as a Psychologist began later in life, after both my children entered elementary school. I had always been drawn to the theories of psychology, sociology and anthropology, and I am a true philosopher at heart. These interests, combined with my ability to tolerate the unknown, and other people’s pain made me the perfect candidate for becoming a Psychologist.
While I have extensive training and experience as a therapist, what truly makes me good at what I do is what I have endured throughout my life. I was married for 20 years, had two children, got divorced, and survived breast cancer, all before the age of 45. Since then I have lost a parent and continue to learn and grow from all of my life lessons.
I received my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from California Graduate Institute in Los Angeles in 2003. I have extensive training in Psychodynamic and Psychoanalytic theory, and completed my clinical training in two of the most respected Psychoanalytic Institutes in the country. I spent three years at The Maple Counseling Center working with mothers and their infants as part of The Mindful Parenting Program, and then went on to work at The Wright Institute studying and training within the theoretical framework of Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy.
I have studied and practiced with renowned leaders in the areas of Buddhist Psychology, Mindfulness, Interpersonal Neurobiology, and Eco-Psychology and I’ve been certified in The Grief Recovery Method® and in Ecotherapy by Pacifica Graduate Institute. From 2009-2012 I created and facilitated a divorce recovery program called Divorce Detox which was reviewed in the New York Times, and has received acclaim nationally for its innovative approach to a much neglected topic and population. I’m currently writing a book on how transcend a marital ending, and I’m developing intensive workshops based on my method of healing Ever-Aftershock®.
When I’m not wearing my clinical hat I am hiking, cooking, gardening and exploring the world with my camera. I am a vegetarian, I practice and support sustainable living, and I advocate for the treatment of farm animals that suffer from the inhumane practices we impose as part of modern day agriculture.
I hope this gives you the deeper understanding and connection you need to reach out for a consultation, and maybe even a first session.
