As a Clinical Psychologist I am a strong believer in talk therapy. There is a significant amount of research that validates the power of this kind of treatment, and its ability to promote wellbeing. Expressing ones feelings in the presence of a trained, objective and non-judgmental other cannot be undervalued, and remains to be one of the most efficient ways to heal past and present pain.
Throughout my years working in a clinical office setting, seeing people one on one in therapy, I have come to realize that as human beings we are capable of healing in a multitude of ways. In my own process of growth and exploration, I have found that my greatest transformations and insights have come through interacting with others, and the world in a variety of ways. I have gained deeper self-understanding, profound insights, and a greater sense of purpose by being out in the world doing, and taking action.
Out of this personal experience came the idea of new kind of integrative psychotherapy. As a strong believer in holistic medicine, the mind-body connection, and our evolutionary need to feel connected as human beings, I offer a unique and proprietary form of therapy called Off The Couch Therapy. The intention of Off The Couch Therapy is to encourage more people to seek the therapeutic support they need by eliminating barriers, and adding an experiential aspect to the process. The goal of Off The Couch Therapy is for every participant to broaden their experience of the self by connecting with the outside world through mind, body and heart.

Structure of Off The Couch Therapy
Off The Couch Therapy meets monthly. Each meeting will include an indoor or outdoor activity or exercise to stimulate your mind, body or heart. After the experiential exercise, we will convene at a location for one hour to process what you experienced. This is a group process, but may be done individually upon request.
Here are some examples of Off The Couch Therapy explorations:
Hiking Therapy
Exercising in nature offers an incredible connection to the earth. It also enhances clarity of mind to allow for pure thinking and feeling. These hikes will be gentle and beautiful, no hiking experience needed.
Food Therapy
We often don’t realize how triggered we are by food. Our memories are directly linked to our senses of taste and smell. Experiencing food can ignite personal insight and reflection to enhance self-understanding.
Photo Therapy
Viewing photography or taking pictures can shift our perspective of how we see the world. Photography is a great way to free yourself from a distorted view of the self or others, and provides the opportunity for a new way of seeing things.
Dance Therapy
Movement is an essential aspect to our wellbeing. We are the most sedentary of all the species, so simply moving can create remarkable change in feelings and mood. This is more about moving than dancing, so no experience is necessary.
Art Therapy
Viewing or creating art has been a healing tool for centuries. Art inspires and generates feeling and thought. Children learn and grow through playing and doing art, and that capacity doesn’t end with adulthood.
Garden Therapy
Gardening and plant life can teach us so much about what we need to thrive and grow as human beings. Walking through a flower garden or picking fresh vegetables from an organic vegetable garden will definitely provide food for thought!
